DIY Orchid Necklace & Orchid Hair Clip Tutorial for Spring & Summer

Soft floral accessories are perfect for spring and summer, and these crochet orchid designs are one of my favorite ways to add a handmade touch to outfits ✨ In this tutorial, I’m sharing how to create a delicate orchid necklace and a bigger orchid hair clip using realistic crochet orchid flowers.

The necklace version uses a smaller orchid for an elegant everyday accessory, while the hair clip version features a larger orchid that makes such a pretty statement piece 🌷

Both projects are beginner-friendly, customizable, and perfect for cottagecore, coquette, and soft summer aesthetics.

✨ Materials You’ll Need

✨ Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • slst – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • inc – increase

🌸 Crochet Orchid Necklace

This necklace uses a smaller orchid flower for a soft and delicate accessory perfect for spring and summer ✨

1. Base Petals (Make 3)

Foundation: In a magic ring, ch 9, make 8 sc back down the chain, slst into the ring — repeat 3 times.

Shaping: ch1, sc, hdc, 4dc, hdc, sc, then repeat on the opposite side of the petal.

Finish with a slst and leave a long tail for sewing.

2. Inner Petals (Make 2)

Foundation: In a magic ring, ch 7, make 6 sc, slst into the ring — repeat once.

Round 1: ch1, sc, hdc, 2dc, hdc, sc, then repeat on the opposite side.

Round 2: dc inc, dc inc, dc, hdc, sc, ch2, then reverse the pattern back.

3. Top Mini Petals

R1: In a magic ring, (ch4, 3sc, slst) ×2, then (ch3, 2sc, slst) ×2.

Tighten the ring and fasten off.

4. Assembly & Shading

Sew or glue all petals together and add a pearl or bead in the center ✨

Lightly shade the petals using pink, peach, or yellow blush/eyeshadow for a realistic orchid effect.

5. Necklace Assembly

Attach the orchid to a crochet chain, cord, or choker and add beads to the ends for extra detail 🌷

This version uses a larger orchid flower for a bold floral hair accessory ✨

1. Base Petals (Make 3)

Foundation: In a magic ring, ch11, make 10sc back down the chain, slst into the ring — repeat 3 times.

Shaping: ch1, sc, 2hdc, 4dc, 2hdc, sc, then repeat on the opposite side.

Finish with a slst and leave a long tail.

2. Inner Petals (Make 2)

Foundation: In a magic ring, ch9, make 8sc, slst into the ring — repeat once.

Round 1: ch1, (1sc, 1hdc, 4dc, 1hdc, 1sc) ×4.

Round 2: ch1, (2slst, 3dc inc, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc, 2ch, 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 3dc inc, 2slst) ×2.

3. Top Mini Petals

R1: (4ch, 3sc, slst into MR) ×2, then (3ch, 2sc, slst) ×2.

Tighten the ring and fasten off.

4. Assembly & Shading

Attach all petals together and add a pearl or bead in the center ✨

Use blush or eyeshadow for soft pink, peach, or yellow shading.
